Fithealth Dry Eye Caps provide essential nutrients to protect cells and stabilise the tear film. It helps improve tear secretion and the tear distribution across the surface of the eye, thus keeping the eye moist. Dry eye caps also help to increase the contact lens wearing time in patients with borderline dry eyes and contact lens intolerance. Fithealth Dry Eye Caps is a unique nutritional supplement developed in association with leading ophthalmologists. For the first time, a treatment is available that is aimed at the root of the problem namely, to increase not only the secretion of tears but also to optimise the stability of the aqueous tear film by improving the production of lipids in the tear film, while reducing the viscosity of the mucous layer. A. INGREDIENTS: 1) Malabar Nut • Botanical: Adhatoda vasica • Family: N.O. Acanthaceae • Synonyms: Justicia adhatoda (Linn.) Arusa. Adulsa Bakas • Parts used: Leaves, flowers, fruit, root • Habitat: India Description: A common plant in India, the fresh leaves are 4 to 6 inches long, 2 inches wide, lanceolate entire, shortly petiolate, when dried dull brownish green, they become lighter when powdered, taste bitter and smell like strong tea. Its wood is soft and makes excellent charcoal. Constituents: The leaves contain a bitter crystalline alkaloid Vascicine, and an organic adhatodic acid, another alkaloid and an odourous volatile principle. Medicinal use and actions: The flowers, leaves, root and specially the fruit are considered valuable antispasmodic for asthma and intermittenet fever; used with success also as an expectorant in cases of chronic bronchitis and phthisis; the leaves are dried and smoked as cigarettes to relieve asthma. Adhatoda Vasica stimulates the lacrimal gland to produce tears, while interfering with the production of acid mucopolysaccharide fibres in the goblet cells. Produced AMP fibres are fragmented and thereby the viscosity of the mucous is decreased. Adhatodic acid is non-poisonous to higher animals. It should not be used by pregnant women due to uterine stimulation properties in large quantities. An overdose of Adhatoda Vasica may cause diarrhoea and vomiting. No known absolute contra indications. 2) Flaxseed Oil • Botanical: Linum usitatissimum (Linacea) • Synonyms: Linseed Oil, Aceite de Linaza • Parts used: Oils expressed from ripe seeds of Linseed Description: A clear yellowish brown oil. Gradually thickens on exposure to air. Slightly soluble in alcohol. Constituents: Omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids. Medicinal use and action: Supplementation of Omega 3, 6 and 9 essential fatty acids. Increases the oily component of tears by stimulating oil secretion by the Meibomian glands. 3) Shell components • Glycerine BP/EP/ USP • Sorbitol Syrup 70% BP • Gelatine 195 Bloom (Acid) BP • Red Iron Oxide Paste (E172) • Black Iron Oxide Paste (E 172) B. PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION: Dry Eye Capsules addresses the problem of ‘ dry eye syndrome' in two ways: Flaxseed Oil, a rich source of Omega 3 oils, has been proven to be deficient in the Western diet. In the eye, supplementation of this oil improves the integrity of the oily layer of the tear to encourage spreading and prevent evaporation of the aqueous tear layer. Adhatoda Vasica, stimulates the lacrimal gland to produce tears, while making the mucous layer of the tears less viscous for better dispersion of the tear. C.
